Pietro Nardella-Dellova (Giuseppe Pietro Buono Nardella-Dellova) is a Poet, Writer, Professor, and Researcher of Jewish and Italian descent, originating from the Ghetto/Quartiere Ebraico di Fondi, Italia Meridionale (Latina e Napoli). For this very reason, he carries within himself the Jewish cultural legacy of millennia of pilgrimage and the libertarian cultural legacy of Neapolitans throughout the world. His first job, as a young boy, was at a letterpress printing shop (which he refers to as a “magical place”)—an experience that marked him as a Writer for life, as it was there, in his spare time, that he began playing with the letters in the type cases, exploring various typefaces, composing, and creating his first poems.
He is a Professor who has dedicated three decades to Civil Law, a productive Author, an untiring Researcher, an intense Poet, and a supportive friend through long and inspiring academic and literary journeys. I met him in 2016 when, in the face of the deconstruction of public policies in Education and Health and the assault on the values of the Democratic State under the Rule of Law, he courageously stood up, with ethical and legal authority, in defense of Democracy and the Constitution, against necropolitics and neofascist movements that were gaining strength through the violation of constitutional values. He possesses the authority to combat anti-democratic forces and to teach Law, Philosophy, Human Rights, Education, Judaism, the Science of Religion, Literature, Poetry, and Civil Law through a constitutional and human rights framework—a highly relevant approach in light of the constitutionalization of Private Law, the overcoming of the public/private dichotomy, and its humanizing impact. His work in defense of the human person constitutes the democratic and constitutional ethics of a constant struggle against the commodification of Education and the Law.
Pietro Nardella-Dellova is a member of the Accademia Napoletana per la Cultura e Lingua di Napoli, under the presidency of Doctor Massimiliano Verde, from Napoli; he is a faculty member of the Cátedra Libre por la Cultura de Nápoles at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata, in Argentina; he created, in New York, the Gruppo Martin Buber for dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians; he was a co-author with Paolo Filippi, together composing dozens of songs in Italian (Paolo was Sicilian and Pietro, Neapolitan), uniting the two cultural forces of Sicily and Napoli. He developed Jewish Education studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, and taught at the Universidade de São Paulo and the Universidade Federal Fluminense, Rio de Janeiro; he is the director of the Journal of Civil Law [RDC] and coordinator of the International Civil Law Conferences. He was a contributor to St. Thomas University, Miami, USA, delivering a lecture against Human Trafficking. As a scholarship recipient, he researched and defended the doctoral thesis Judaism and Human Rights at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo, where he currently also develops research on Religion, Politics, and Neofascism. He collaborates with the Massoret Jewish Cultural Center. He is completing the bilingual book Philosophy of Law and Politics (English and Italian). He is a peer reviewer for the International Journal of Latin American Religions (Editor-in-Chief: Frank Usarski, Ph.D.), a journal that publishes original research articles, interviews, conference reports, and book reviews.
